How Applied Learning Works
by: David Suarez
Theoretical and conceptual
learning dominate the training
and professional development
field, and have long been
utilized to convey and
disseminate ideas and learning
initiatives to students. But,
are they really that effective?
Participants from training and
development programs often
suffer from disconnect, as they
sit in long content filled
sessions. This valuable
information being passed along
may be reaching students, and
may be effective, but how would
you know if it is really sinking
in?
Applied learning takes
theoretical and conceptual
learning a step further, by
engaging participants to
learn by doing. That is,
to take the content and give
them the opportunity to try it
out in a practical setting.
This learning by doing is what
really teaches students to grasp
and understand course material
and key concepts, all while
engaging, energizing and
inspiring them.
All of Interactive Training

Improv for Business Featured in The
Miami Herald
 Interactive
Training Solutions' all-day
corporate training and team
building workshop
Improv for Business (Bizprov), was
just featured in
Business Monday
section of The Miami
Herald, on October
8th, where writer Monica
Hatcher,
experienced the power of Interactive's improv-based
corporate training.
The article describes the
effectiveness of Improv for
Business, and Interactive's
applied learning and improv-based
methodology through the eyes of
satisfied participants. It also
interviews Interactive's
President and CEO David Suarez.
Suarez
said bringing the improv
principles to bear on challenges
at work can help one become more
aware of certain group dynamics
and, in a way, exert greater
control over them.
